Main duties of the job
Maintain a high standard of women-centered care following Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust guidelines. Act as a referral agent and care coordinator. Establish effective multi-agency collaboration. Serve as a role model for clinical skills development. Maintain a safe working environment. Support the Senior Midwife in setting and monitoring standards, and seek continuous improvement. Promote evidence-based practice. Participate in clinical audits and evaluations. Provide comprehensive midwifery care, ensuring accurate documentation per NMC standards.

Location: Leeds General Infirmary/St James's University Hospital/Community
Purpose/Summary: The post holder assesses care needs, develops, implements, and evaluates care programs, and may teach other staff. They are responsible for a group of women as a prime care provider, practicing advanced clinical skills, and may take charge of a ward in the absence of the designated person.
The maternity unit handles approximately 10,000 births per year and is a tertiary referral center. The post involves working within the maternity unit or community, caring for women and babies throughout pregnancy, with rotations across shifts.
The midwife maintains personal contact, assesses individual needs, communicates effectively with healthcare professionals, and reports on treatment changes. PPE must be worn as appropriate.
