Job Title: Support Worker (Housing-Related Support)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £25,965.41 (£27,112.48 after 18 months of successful performance)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: 3-week rolling rota, including bank holidays and weekends
Location: Newton House, Gloucester

Role Overview
This role is based at Newton House in Gloucester. The service provides support and accommodation for homeless people with complex needs. You will support customers by connecting them with employability and support agencies, helping manage their finances, signing up for benefits, and facilitating their move to permanent housing. Your role is to boost their confidence and support their journey to rebuild their lives, maintaining records and handling admin tasks. The role can be challenging but rewarding, requiring resilience, empathy, and the ability to leave work at work.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone with:
* Experience working with vulnerable individuals
* Experience delivering structured support and risk management
* A caring, empathetic, resilient, and proactive attitude
* Understanding of supporting vulnerable groups, potentially including lived experience of homelessness or addiction
* Flexibility to work hours beyond standard times, including lone working

Role Responsibilities
Supporting customers using Trauma-Informed and Psychologically Informed approaches, including:
* Co-producing support and move-on plans
* Conducting reviews of support and risk plans
* Engaging customers to meet outcomes and develop skills
* Assisting with tenancy matters and financial independence
* Supporting healthcare needs and medication management
* Leading support initiatives and ensuring safety protocols
Service Delivery
* Facilitating referrals and assessing new customers
* Maintaining a safe environment and reporting concerns
* Carrying out administrative duties and maintaining local partnerships
* Working flexibly to meet the needs of customers and the organisation
Person Specification
Essential:
* Understanding of barriers faced by vulnerable groups
* Experience with structured support and risk management
* Empathy, resilience, and teamwork skills
* Administrative and IT skills
Desirable:
* Knowledge of Trauma-Informed support approaches
* Experience in challenging environments and benefit systems knowledge
