We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable Senior Assistant Psychologist to support the delivery of specialist psychological services across our inpatient units, including acute and psychiatric intensive care wards. This role requires at least 12 months of prior experience as an Assistant Psychologist, especially in settings involving severe mental illness, neuropsychological conditions, dementia, or personality disorders. You will work alongside clinical psychologists and therapists to support structured interventions, psychometric assessments, group therapies, and multidisciplinary care planning. This is a varied and meaningful role for those committed to person-centred, recovery-focused care.
Responsibilities
* Deliver structured psychological interventions under supervision
* Administer and score psychometric assessments
* Support therapeutic group work and engagement activities
* Contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions and care planning
* Provide informal supervision and guidance to junior psychology staff
* Conduct audits, service evaluations, and contribute to research
* Maintain service databases and produce high-quality clinical reports
* Uphold professional, ethical, and safeguarding standards
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential and Desirable)
* A BPS-accredited Psychology degree (minimum 2:1)
* At least 1 year of employed experience as an Assistant Psychologist
* Prior experience in clinical mental health settings (e.g., inpatient, neuropsychology, CAMHS)
* Strong communication, organisation, and time management skills
* Experience with psychometric assessments and outcome measures
* A commitment to holistic, person-centred care
* Desirable MSc in Clinical or Neuropsychology
* Experience working with detained patients under the Mental Health Act
* Experience supervising or mentoring others
* Familiarity with electronic health records and NHS documentation
