We are seeking to appoint a Multidisciplinary Biomedical Scientist to join our Manchester team and make a positive impact in a growing and progressive CRO. As a new and growing department, our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. The successful candidate will be involved in groundbreaking drug development; fundamental in supporting healthcare. Ideal candidate will be newly qualified with experience of Heamatology/Biochemistry (minimum requirement would be during post graduation training and would be evidenced in training portfolio). HCPC registration is essential. This is an onsite position based at our Manchester site, starting salary: £38,000 Focus of the job: To assist our Clinical Pathology Lab Services across the range of on-site pathology disciplines, data collection and to plan, analyse, access and report on clinical samples relating to clinical studies. You will be expected to be confident across the sessions of biochemistry, haematology and coagulation disciplines. Be able to plan, analyse, assess and report pathology investigations. To liaise with the Senior BMS Laboratory Manager, to ensure the provision of the high-quality service in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Essential Honours Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent which would allow individual to be eligible for Associate Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Science. Biomedical Scientist Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered. Desirable Knowledge in Quality Management System (QMS). Experience in clinical chemistry, haematology, coagulation testing procedures and applicable laboratory testing regulations. Knowledge of writing SOP’s. Experience in quality and point of care. RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure tests are carried out in a timely manner and in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements. Ensure data produced by the laboratory is accurate and timely. Be responsible for processes and analysis of samples, interpretation and reporting of chemistry and haematology results following current standard operating procedures (SOP). Maintain an up to date working knowledge within the field of chemistry, haematology, and coagulation to ensure laboratory practice remains current / in accordance with best practice guidance. To train, improve and supervise underqualified laboratory clinical lab staff. Working with Senior BMS & Quality Laboratory Manager/s to coordinate records and audits as required, ensuring compliance with the ISO17025 standard. Attend departmental meetings. Contribute with quality improvements. Promotes best practice in health and safety and security. Investigate incident reports, complaints to highlight risks in laboratory procedures. Deputise for Senior BMS as necessary. Collaborate in the creation of SOPs for all laboratory functions. Ensure that the highest standards of quality and customer service are maintained. Ensure continued accreditation with UKAS. To work to the requirements of SI 2004 no 1031 and amendments thereof, which includes Good Clinical Practice.
