and main responsibilities
The Post holder could expect to cover the following duties:
1. Management of inpatients on the rehab unit and outliers as appropriate
2. Attend and participate in neuro rehab outpatient clinics
3. Clinical administration, included in the sessional time allocation
4. Other duties as may be identified to meet the needs of the service
5. Cover for colleagues during periods of absence.
6. Support in-patient care in conjunction with departmental colleagues.
7. Teaching duties as required and take an active part in the Postgraduate Medical Education programme and in the teaching of junior medical & nursing staff, General Practitioners, and other clinical professions.
8. Take part in department, regional and national audits.
9. Management and development of the service using Quality Improvement Methodology.

Experience
Essential criteria
10. •Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required to gain UK. CCT in General & Geriatric Medicine or Neurology or Acute Medicine with subspecialty training in Stroke Medicine
11. •Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
Desirable criteria
12. •Evidence to demonstrate development, delivery, and management of a quality stroke service.
13. •Experience of supervising SpRs/specialist trainees.
Skills
Essential criteria
14. •Wide knowledge, experience, and a high level of competence in rehabilitation medicine
15. •Knowledge of good medical practice and the General Medical Council requirements.
16. •Demonstrates a sound knowledge of clinical governance practice.
Desirable criteria
17. •Computer/IT Research skills.
18. •Publications in peer review journals.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
19. •Hold a medical qualification and license to practice with the GMC
20. •Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Geriatric Medicine or General or Acute Medicine or Neurology and/or Stroke Medicine via; - CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) - CESR or - European Community Rights (Within 6 months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCT or equivalent)
