Job Overview
As a Senior Security Engineer, you will design, document, install, and manage security monitoring tools and platforms to provide data to the Sopra Steria Security Operational Centre (SOC) for analysis. Your role ensures correct tooling is operational to protect and monitor our clients, collaborates with cross‑functional teams to assess risks, design controls, and define testing requirements, and leads clients through security challenges to improve their posture.
Responsibilities
* Lead security activities for large client engagements, creating and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and developing solutions aligned with objectives and contractual obligations.
* Identify customer requirements, creatively applying solutions and industry best practices.
* Collaborate with team members to identify potential cyber risks, assess impact, and develop technical mitigation strategies.
* Work with Security Architecture to inform focused security solution design for SOC/SIEM solutions.
* Formulate security strategy, creatively applying a wide range of technical and management principles.
* Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry standard methodologies, and provide recommendations for improvement.
* Lead security aspects of bid responses and opportunity identification.
* Mentor junior team members, support recruitment, and encourage engagement with the Cyber Security Community of Expertise.
Qualifications
* Successful track record leading teams within Security Engineering, including large client engagements.
* Strong client management and relationship‑building experience.
* Ability to absorb complex information, communicate effectively at all levels to technical and non‑technical audiences, assess and evaluate risk, and understand implications of new technologies.
* Good project management skills, balancing multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously.
* SIEM experience with Azure Sentinel and/or Splunk.
* Experience running simulated or actual incidents, following procedures and best practice to limit, reduce, and remediate.
* Strong leadership, influencing, and people‑management skills.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, assessing complex situations, identifying risks, and recommending effective solutions.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels, from executives to end users.
* Demonstrated personal responsibility and autonomy with minimal escalation.
Desired Skills
* Experience in cloud, on‑prem, SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS environments.
* Security incident response, code/malware analysis.
* Strong coding skills.
