SEN Teaching Assistant – Redditch

About the Role
*
Providing a mix of 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
*
Supporting students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs), Speech & Language Difficulties, and/or Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
*
Working both in the classroom and in dedicated intervention areas
*
Collaborating closely with the school SENCO, class teachers, and external professionals
Roles & Responsibilities
*
Deliver targeted 1:1 interventions and facilitate small group sessions to support academic, emotional, and social development
*
Follow and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
*
Implement a range of SEN support strategies including visual timetables, sensory breaks, and structured routines
*
Assist in planning and adapting resources to meet individual learning needs
*
Support pupils with developing independence, communication, and social interaction skills
*
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to the teacher and SENCO
*
Build trusting, positive relationships with pupils and help manage and de-escalate behaviour when necessary
*
Liaise with parents/carers and attend meetings as required
*
Provide support during unstructured times (e.g., break/lunch), and assist with personal care where appropriate
What We're Looking For
*
Minimum of 6 months' experience working with children in a UK school (mainstream or SEN setting)
*
Proven experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or Speech & Language Needs
*
Confidence in delivering both 1:1 and small group support
*
Strong understanding of inclusive education and effective SEN strategies
*
A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
*
Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to remain professional and flexible in challenging situations
Essential Requirements
*
Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through us)
*
Right to work in the UK
*
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
