Overview
18.5 hours per week. The Fostering and Adoption Team are looking to recruit a Social Worker to focus on the support needs of children living with adults via a Special Guardianship Order (SGO). This role will include an emphasis on placing the safety and welfare of children at the very centre of everything we do.
Responsibilities
* Undertake assessments of SGO support needs and produce and action SGO support plans, reviewing them regularly.
* Offer advice, guidance and signposting to Special Guardians, birth parents, other relatives and professionals on SGO-related topics (e.g. keeping in touch arrangements).
* Work directly with young children, adolescents and adults to support positive outcomes for children and families.
* Collaborate with colleagues in the Fostering Hubs, Support and Protection Teams, the Virtual School, schools, other professionals and the wider community.
* Be adaptable in approach and able to manage the emotional demands of the role while maintaining professionalism.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with children and adults from all walks of life.
* Well-developed empathy skills; commitment to anti-discriminatory practice; keen to engage in reflective supervision.
* Energetic, self-motivated, and able to work as part of a team in a busy, hardworking environment.
