CREDIT CONTROL MANAGER
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as our Credit Control Manager for the WP Group. Based at out Southampton Office and reporting to Head of Finance. Working Monday to Friday 830-1730, 3 days per week in the office, 2 days per week working from home.

Your opportunity
The Credit Control Manager is responsible for leading and developing the credit control function to ensure effective management of customer credit risk and timely cash collection across a diverse, high-volume customer base. Operating within a fast-paced energy business, the role will drive strong cash performance, maintain robust controls, and support commercial growth across key sectors including marine, construction, haulage/fleet, and airports.
Responsibilities
Credit & Cash Management
1. Own the end-to-end credit control process, ensuring timely and accurate collection of customer debt
2. Monitor and actively manage aged debt, prioritising high-value and high-risk accounts
3. Deliver and maintain cash collection targets aligned to business forecasts
4. Lead the resolution of complex or escalated customer payment issues and disputes
5. Partner with Sales and Operations to balance commercial objectives with credit risk
Credit Risk & Controls
6. Set and review credit limits and payment terms in line with internal policy
7. Carry out customer credit assessments using financial information, credit agencies, and trading history
8. Ensure adherence to internal controls, delegated authorities, and audit requirements
9. Proactively identify emerging credit risks within the customer portfolio
Team Leadership
10. Lead, coach, and develop the credit control team to drive performance and accountability
11. Set clear objectives, KPIs, and performance standards
12. Support recruitment, onboarding, and training within the team
13. Foster a collaborative, professional, and customer-focused culture
Reporting & Analysis
14. Produce regular reporting on aged debt, DSO, cash performance, and risk exposure
15. Use advanced Excel skills to analyse trends, identify issues, and support decision-making
16. Provide clear insights and recommendations to senior finance stakeholders
17. Support month-end close activities related to accounts receivable
Process Improvement
18. Review and enhance credit control processes to improve efficiency and control
19. Support system improvements and automation initiatives within AR and credit
20. Contribute to wider finance transformation and continuous improvement projects

Skills required
25. Proven experience as a Credit Control Manager or senior AR lead within a fast-paced corporate environment
26. Strong background in high-volume B2B credit control
27. Hands-on experience managing trade credit insurance, including: Liaison with insurers and brokers Setting and monitoring insured credit limits Managing claims, overdue debt, and policy compliance
28. Demonstrable experience managing credit risk and complex customer portfolios
29. Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
30. Experience leading and developing a credit control team
31. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
32. Results-driven with a clear focus on cash collection and risk mitigation
