About the Department and the role
Cambridge Regional College (CRC) is a dynamic place to work. We are seeking caring, personable and empathetic Teaching Assistants with a real flair for empowering young people to join our Learning Support team. The Supported Learning Department educates and cares for our most vulnerable students. TA’s support students across a wide range of subjects to promote confidence, independence, employability and self-reliance. You may work with students in our college garden, with small animals, or in art, drama, music, woodwork, cooking, Maths and English.
We are ideally seeking candidates who have experience in a special education setting or who are moving from primary education or social care. Knowledge of supporting students at Entry level and gathering evidence via RARPA would be an advantage. Your responsibilities will include:
* Support students with a range of learning difficulties and other disabilities
* Enable reasonable adjustments to help students engage
* Mentor students and encourage them to stay on task
* Model skills so that the student can understand the tasks
* Assist with Personal Care and health needs
* Promote our college values
What we are looking for in the ideal candidate
* GCSE English grade C / 4 or equivalent - or willingness to work towards this qualification
* Happy to undergo relevant training
* Enjoy working across college faculties (supporting students on a variety of courses)
* Recent and demonstrable experience of working with people with special education needs (desirable, but not essential)
* Positive, can-do attitude; sensitive to others’ needs, patient and reliable
* Team player but also able to work independently
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
