The Role
This role sits within a small, well-established HSE / Principal Designer team and will form part of a newly integrated CDM, Principal Designer, and Building Safety service offering.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering the Building Regulations Principal Designer service, supporting clients as they navigate the practical and regulatory implications of the Building Safety Act.
The role has been created in response to increasing client demand and legislative change. The business already has a healthy pipeline of work with a large portfolio of established clients across the built environment, typically within industrial, logistics, residential, and commercial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
·Provide expert advice to clients on the Building Safety Act and ensure compliance across all project stages.
·Liaise closely with the Principal Designer, Principal Contractor, and wider project teams.
·Undertake and review plans submitted for Building Regulations approval.
·Create and maintain compliance trackers to monitor Building Safety Act and Building Regulations requirements.
·Support clients through the relevant planning and building safety gateways.
·Inspect properties and buildings at key stages of the construction process.
·Attend client and design team meetings, offering professional and pragmatic input on compliance matters.
·Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
·Ensure projects are delivered in line with current building regulations, codes, and legislation.
·Provide advice internally to the team on projects where there is not an appointed Principal Designer Building Regulations
About You
This role would suit a qualified Architect, Building Surveyor or Building Control Surveyor with several years' experience operating in a client-facing environment. You will be confident advising on regulatory matters and comfortable working across a range of project types and stakeholders.
You will also be motivated by the opportunity to help develop and shape a growing service offering, contributing to best practice and supporting clients through a period of significant industry change.
Essential
·Excellent working knowledge of the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, codes, and legislation.
·Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in client-facing advisory roles.
·Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams across a range of different projects.
Desirable
·ARB / RIBA qualified Architect, or degree qualified in a related discipline.
·Membership of CABE.
·Experience working within a consultancy or professional services environment.
·Exposure to complex, high-value, or multi-unit developments.
