The Medical Director will oversee primary care in Brighton, collaborate with Waltham leadership, and work with all departments across the organization. This role includes oversight of family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, prevention, wellness, women's health, complex care, and affiliated partners. Collaboration with nursing and practice management is essential to ensure efficient operations. An important aspect of this role is embracing the populations served and leading the primary care team in addressing critical patient and clinical issues.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Recruits, manages, and conducts performance reviews of physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners; oversees training at assigned sites.
* Participates in recruitment, onboarding, and oversight of clinical staff.
* Works with HR and the Chief Clinical Officer to develop resilience and retention strategies for providers.
* Champions initiatives to improve workforce and patient care, communicating changes effectively.
* Ensures provider coverage during peak times, approves time-off, and fills in as needed.
* Reviews productivity and quality metrics, follows up to improve performance.
* Participates in quality assurance and improvement activities, ensuring compliance with standards.
* Supports population health initiatives and educates providers on related programs.
* Serves as liaison for medical services between hospitals and community organizations.
* Engages in community outreach, health education, and screening events.
* Provides medical expertise and manages complex cases.
PROVIDER RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Evaluates and treats patients, including walk-ins, writes prescriptions, and provides preventive and acute care.
* Maintains a patient panel aligned with organizational goals, overseeing clinical aspects.
* Ensures continuity of care across different healthcare settings.
* Refers patients for specialty services, documents, and follows up.
* Maintains evening and quarterly Saturday sessions, participates in on-call duties.
* Engages in outreach and continuing education, maintains licensure.
* Participates in coverage during colleagues' leaves as needed.
ADMINISTRATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Participates in developing and evaluating protocols.
* Attends staff meetings, quality activities, and audits.
* Trains staff on protocols, provides supervision, and conducts peer reviews.
* Leads provider meetings and reports on quality metrics.
* Manages departmental budgets.
Productivity level: Meets CRCH standards as per the current budget.
TIME EXPECTATIONS: 4 direct care sessions and 4 administrative sessions weekly (full-time).
Qualifications:
* M.D. with residency in Family Medicine or NP with 5+ years' experience, Board Certified, licensed in MA.
* Board-eligible/certified in primary care (Family Medicine, Adult Medicine, Pediatrics).
* Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.
* Hospital privileges application required.
* Preferred: ambulatory experience, working with diverse populations, strong communication, leadership, and safety culture skills.
