GEOSPATIAL DATA SCIENTIST ROLE (Junior & Senior)
Overview:
BirdsEyeView is an InsurTech venture based in London. It builds Natural Catastrophe Modelling software for reinsurance and insurers globally, enabling modeling of floods, wildfires, cyclones, and more.
The technology involves climate data infrastructure, scalable product development, and machine learning data processing, helping underwriters assess climate-related risks.
About the role
You will support the development of Natural Peril models for BirdsEyeView’s WEATHER ANALYTIX platform, providing climate and weather analytics to insurance partners.
You will join a team of scientists, developers, and insurance experts, impacting business applications and product development. This role is ideal for someone interested in climate and geospatial data and the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support strategy and implementation of the WEATHER ANALYTIX platform.
* Process meteorological datasets via partnership with the European Space Agency.
* Develop models for Wildfire, Hurricane, Tornado, Lightning, Earthquake, and Flood.
* Collaborate with Business Development on new products and enhancements.
* Select and implement suitable technology solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or related field; Master's preferred.
* 2+ years experience for Junior/Mid role, 4+ years for Mid/Senior role.
* Proficiency in Python, experience with large geospatial datasets, knowledge of data science techniques, understanding of web systems, and strong project management skills.
Nice to Have:
* Experience with JIRA, Confluence, GitLab, AWS, ERA5/Climate Data, MLOps, and knowledge of the insurance market.
