Extra Care/Sheltered Schemes (Retirement Living)
Salary: £28,000 to £33,000 per annum
Type: Permanent, Full time (35 hours per week, 9-5 Mon-Fri)
Location: 25 hours per week at Rowan Court (RG6) + 10 hours Relief across Sheltered and Extra Care Schemes including Reading, Newbury, Thatcham, and Windsor area. Mileage paid.
Driving licence and access to car essential.
This role requires an enhanced DBS.

Key responsibilities:
* Health & Safety and Fire Checks: Be accountable for Health & Safety and Fire safety checks including comprehensive and clearly auditable records. Effective liaison between internal departments as necessary.
* Safeguarding: Know what to look for and take swift, appropriate action when needed. Regularly monitor and report on the safety and wellbeing of customers, including signposting and referring customers to support services where appropriate.
* Partnership Working: Liaise with care providers, GPs, social services, families – keeping it all joined up.
* Being the ‘go-to’: Be the first point of contact for residents, families, and professionals.
* Manage the building and estate to ensure effective health and safety management, security, and cleanliness. This includes reporting repairs, undertaking fire alarms, conducting pull cord checks, and maintaining accurate records.
* Manage the termination of tenancies and liaise with the voids, lettings team, and contractors.
* Customer engagement and consultation: Facilitate social and wellbeing activities, engage proactively with care, statutory, and voluntary agencies, and ensure the service and site are accessible to all.
* Manage low-level ASB cases according to policies and procedures, working with the Housing team and providing guidance to customers reporting ASB.
* Assist customers with Housing Benefit and other welfare benefits to reduce rent arrears and ensure rent is paid on time.
* Support colleagues and manage cover at Extra Care Schemes, collaborating with third-party onsite care providers.
* Complete KPIs as outlined in Support Contracts set by the Local Authority.
More about you:
* Intermediate MS Office skills and willingness to learn new systems.
* Experience in a customer-facing role within care/support services.
* Experience working with vulnerable people and community groups.
* Basic knowledge of Health and Safety.
* Understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practices.
Nice-to-haves:
* Level 3 in Housing or Supported Housing.
* Health & Safety qualification.
* Knowledge of welfare benefits like Housing Benefit or Universal Credit.
