The services of Hays have been retained by our client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE), to recruit a Project Manager Building Services. Based from their head office on Adelaide Street, Belfast within their Asset Management Building Safety team. This organisation has more than 85,000 properties and employs 3,000 members of staff throughout NI.
Your new role
Responsible to the Building Services Manager for ensuring the NIHE is fully compliant with its statutory and regulatory duties to its customers, employees, and third parties, and to assist in the management and coordination of the planned and cyclical servicing and maintenance programme for the specialist mechanical and electrical equipment in NIHE Offices, Depots, High Rise Residential Blocks, and Hostels. Some of the key duties include:
1. To contribute to all aspects of the Building Services Function of the Building Safety Department, to ensure NIHE’s compliance with its statutory and legislative Health and Safety obligations.
2. To assist in the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations, particularly in relation to Heating Systems, Electrical Safety, Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Detectors, and Lifting Equipment (including servicing and LOLER) across the NIHE stock portfolio.
3. To provide assurance reports to senior management on the testing, inspection, maintenance, and certification associated with all compliance areas mentioned above.

What you'll need to succeed
To be eligible for this position, you must meet one of the following three criteria:
1. Degree or equivalent (level 6) qualification in a relevant technical field, plus a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
2. BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma in a relevant technical qualification, plus a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
3. Alternatively, candidates without formal qualifications but with significant experience and professional development in the relevant areas, plus at least 5 years' relevant experience.
*** A relevant qualification would be in a Building Services (Mechanical/Electrical) Discipline. For shortlisting, candidates must demonstrate significant experience in:
* Gas safety regulations and CP12 requirements
* Electricity at Work Regulations and testing regimes
* Managing contractors on multiple sites
* Managing contracts according to specifications
What you'll get in return
Salary up to £41,522. You will work for a large Housing Body on an ongoing temporary contract, with an immediate start. Benefits include weekly payments via BACS, mileage reimbursement at 45p per mile, a 37-hour workweek, and 35 days of annual holiday including statutory holidays.
