Teaching Assistant - SEN Unit

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the SEN unit of a well-established primary school. This unit specifically supports pupils with significant social communication differences, such as autism. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Provide tailored support to pupils with social communication differences, under the guidance of the SEN coordinator and classroom teachers.
* Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
* Facilitate social skills development through structured activities and naturalistic settings.
* Use a variety of communication aids and strategies to enhance pupil interaction and learning.
* Monitor and support the pupil’s emotional and behavioural needs, providing immediate assistance and feedback.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote the well-being and progress of students.
* Maintain accurate records of students' progress and any incidents that occur, reporting to the relevant parties as necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience working with children, particularly in an SEN setting.
* Understanding of the challenges faced by students with social communication differences, such as autism.
* Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach towards student needs.
* Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in using communication aids beneficial.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of an SEN coordinator.
* Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs are advantageous.
