Independent Chair: Inverclyde Adult Protection Committee

The Public Protection Chief Officers Group is seeking to appoint an independent chair for the Adult Protection Committee. This role requires an experienced individual with significant knowledge and skills in public protection who has previously held a senior management position. An understanding of the policy and legislative framework for adult protection is essential, along with knowledge of current national developments in adult, child, and public protection.
The successful applicant must possess strategic, professional, and personal skills, along with vision and leadership, to advance our quality assurance and improvement activities aimed at protecting and safeguarding the wellbeing of adults at risk of harm and abuse.
The post holder will collaborate closely with the Chief Social Work Officer, committee members, chairs of other protection committees, and their Lead Officers.
This role is part-time, with a minimum commitment of 15 days per year. The post-holder will operate as a self-employed independent practitioner.

Vetting by Disclosure Scotland
If your role involves regulated work (children and/or protected adults), a satisfactory PVG check will be required. Some posts may require a Standard or Basic Disclosure, while others will involve a Criminal Convictions Form. All checks are obtained via Disclosure Scotland. The successful candidate will cover the cost of their disclosure check.
Regulatory Bodies
Roles requiring registration with bodies like HCPC or SSSC must maintain registration and pay associated fees. SSSC fees are waived for local government staff as part of the pay deal.
