Job Summary

The Donor Care Healthcare Support Worker (DCHSW) is a core member of the multidisciplinary Clinical Donor Care Specialist Team. Under the guidance and delegation of the Donor Care Specialist Nurse, the DCHSW provides donor care support in line with clinical SOPs and guidelines to donors and collections teams across Wales.


Main Duties

* Communicate effectively with a range of individuals to provide clinical support and guidance both verbally and in writing.
* Accurately enter outcomes, donor medical information and related nursing documentation into a range of digital applications.
* Ensure the provision of high-quality and safe donor care in line with organisational standard operating procedures.
* Deliver clinical induction training to the Donor Contact Centre Advisors.

Person Specification


Essential Qualifications and Knowledge

* Knowledge and understanding of donor care processes.
* Maths and English GCSEs (Grade A‑C) or equivalent Level 2 literacy and numeracy qualification.
* Understanding of Donor Selection Guidance, G.D.R.I. and their application in practice.
* Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.


Desirable

* Welsh speaker (Level 1) or willingness to progress.
* Working towards or possessing a Level 3 qualification (Qualification and Credit Framework).


Essential Experience

* Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork.


Desirable Experience

* Experience of working within a blood establishment.


Essential Skills and Attributes

* Effective verbal and written communication and numeracy skills.
* Ability to work methodically and accurately under competing demands.
* Basic IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
* Ability to deliver to specified deadlines.
* Flexibility to accommodate demands.
* Willingness and ability to develop own knowledge and skills in line with the Healthcare Support Worker Framework.
* Commitment to undertaking required educational qualifications to meet Framework requirements.


Other Essential

* Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
* Ability to adhere to organisational values and behaviours.
* Flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel between sites across a wide geographic area.
* Ability to work in line with VUNHST nursing standards.
