Milk Education is seeking dedicated, motivated, and resilient Level 3 Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) school in Newark. This is a fantastic opportunity for both experienced SEN/SEMH professionals and ambitious educators looking to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives.
Working within an SEMH setting, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural, and learning support—helping them engage positively with school life and reach their personal goals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs within the classroom.
* Support children in accessing learning activities, helping them meet their individual targets.
* Build trusting, supportive relationships that promote positive emotional regulation and social development.
* Assist pupils with communication skills and help them develop resilience and confidence.
* Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour-regulation strategies, responding calmly to challenging situations.
* Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
Essential Requirements:
* Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
* Recent and relevant experience in an SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision setting.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
* A patient, caring, and proactive attitude.
* Ability to follow guidance from teaching staff while using your own initiative when needed.
