About the Role
Upstream Risk Engineer is a dynamic position within our organization, responsible for executing risk consulting strategies for the upstream energy team. The primary objective is to optimize value-added support to the risk carrier, aiming at profitability of insured business.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide oil and gas, drilling, and exploration-specific risk reviews for underwriting through third-party information review and client meetings, as well as claims reviews.
* Evaluate location and industry-specific risks by visiting client sites and report findings in a structured way back to underwriting and the client.
* Enhance the underwriting team's risk knowledge, select profitable clients, and reduce losses.
* Work in compliance with technical rules and guidelines, closely collaborating with regional and country managers.
We are seeking an individual with MEng in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical/Process Engineering, along with significant experience in oil and gas exploration and production companies. The ideal candidate will possess problem-solving skills, be forward-thinking, agile, and have excellent relationship skills.
Key Skills and Qualifications
* MEng in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical/Process Engineering.
* Previous work experience in an oil and gas exploration and production company, with expertise in drilling, development (onshore and offshore), production operations, construction, or equivalent risk consulting positions.
* Interest in the energy transition and emerging technologies.
* Problem-solving approach to risk management, with comfort working autonomously.
* Excellent relationship skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
