Maintenance & Repairs Officer – Housing | Guildford Borough Council Location: Guildford, Surrey (Hybrid working available) Hourly Rate: £31.34 per hour (PAYE) or £40 per hour Umbrella or Deemed LTD (Inside IR35) Type: Full-time, temporary We are currently recruting on behalf of a Surrey-based local authority who are seeking a Maintenance & Repairs Officer to join their Technical Services team. You'll play a key role in delivering a proactive, customer-focused housing repairs service across the council’s residential portfolio. The Role Reporting into the Repairs Lead, you’ll be carrying out inspections, diagnosing defects, specifying works, and managing contractors or DLO teams to deliver responsive and minor works safely, on time, and to budget. Responsibilities: Pre, post and void property inspections Issuing work orders and specifications using SORs Overseeing repairs through to completion Coordinating with Housing Officers and residents Monitoring KPIs, cost control, and quality assurance Supporting compliance around H&S, asbestos and CDM Participating in out-of-hours standby rota Requirements: Strong understanding of domestic building maintenance Experience writing specs and managing responsive repairs Confident communicator, comfortable with residents and trade teams alike IT literate – ideally with housing systems (e.g. Keystone, Orchard etc.) Working knowledge of H&S legislation (asbestos, CDM, safeguarding) Full UK driving licence & access to vehicle (ECU allowance provided) HNC/HND or trade background advantageous If interested please feel free to get in touch on 01772 208967 or via email at james.glover@servicecare.org.uk
