Overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, flexible, and conscientious Maintenance Worker to join the service delivery team. The vacancy covers theconurbation of East and West Dorset including Poole, Bournemouth, Wimborne, Weymouth, Dorchester, Bridport and up to Sherborne. This is a full-time role within a 50-strong team delivering electrical, mechanical, and building maintenance services across Dorset premises including minor injury units, inpatient hospitals, community clinics and offices. A Trust vehicle will be provided for work use only and there is a standard DBS requirement for the post.
Responsibilities
* Undertake routine statutory and mandatory planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities across all Trust sites.
* Work alongside and provide immediate support to operational colleagues, including electricians, mechanical fitters, carpenters and building operatives, as well as clinical staff and managers.
* Liaise with contractors and be prepared to work in hazardous areas, taking all safety measures to prevent danger and damage to equipment.
* Be flexible, able to work as part of a team, and adjust plans at short notice; respond calmly and supportively to incidents. May be required to work overtime at short notice and participate in an out-of-hours on-call service.
Requirements
* Must hold and maintain a full UK driving licence; a trust vehicle will be provided for work use.
* Essential criteria: demonstrable experience in a maintenance or service environment; knowledge covering operation and first-line maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems, Fire Fighting Equipment, Portable Appliance Testing, Water Systems, Lifts, Asbestos, Working at Heights; completed a relevant recognized Maintenance training scheme or an appropriate level City & Guilds certificate / NVQ in Construction or equivalent experience; sound understanding of Building and/or Civil engineering; good general education (GCSE grade C or above).
* Desirable criteria: demonstrable experience in a healthcare maintenance or equivalent healthcare environment; Asbestos Awareness, Pasma.
* Knowledge, skills and training: health and safety knowledge; ability to communicate clearly; ability to work as part of a team; ability to plan, facilitate and evaluate activities to meet Departmental needs and objectives.
* DBS check is required; the Trust will cover the cost of the Standard DBS check. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid certificate instead of a new check.
