Role Overview- Commercial Gas Engineer
We have a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and motivated Commercial Gas Engineer to join our team maintaining heating systems across Edinburgh and Borders schools. This hands-on role covers approximately 20 commercial sites, ensuring safe, warm, and comfortable environments for pupils and staff. You’ll be part of a team of around 18 engineers, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance in a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on gas appliances, commercial boilers, heating plant, pumps, and ventilation systems.
* Diagnose faults, repair equipment, and identify life-expired systems.
* Undertake minor plumbing works as required.
* Complete inspections and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
* Minimise wastage and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
* Accurately complete maintenance records, reports, and compliance documentation.
* Occasionally undertake Building Services duties.
Candidate Profile- Commercial Gas Engineer
Essential:
* Valid commercial gas qualifications.
* Gas Safe registration (current).
* Proven experience servicing and repairing industrial/commercial boilers and appliances.
* Strong technical knowledge with excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple site visits.
* Strong safety awareness and commitment to compliance.
Desirable:
* Plumbing experience.
* Experience working within educational or secure environments.
* Familiarity with CAFM systems and digital maintenance reporting.
Additional Information- Commercial Gas Engineer
* This is an on-site, mobile role covering multiple schools in the Edinburgh and Borders area.
* Company van, tools, and uniform will be provided.
* All applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced PVG check prior to starting work.
