SLR has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Geospatial professional to lead the UK & Ireland Geospatial & Data Solutions team to deliver high value geospatial strategy, analytics, and digital products that accelerate the clean energy transition and drive sustainable solutions. This role positions connected geospatial data as the central cog in multidisciplinary delivery, integrating GIS, BIM, surveying, engineering, environmental and stakeholder data through robust governance, scalable ETL, and modern collaboration environments. You will shape regional geospatial strategy, grow and mentor a high performing team, and partner with strategic clients across the SLR three vectors; Technical Consulting, Strategic Advisory and Digital Ventures. Working closely with the European Geospatial Practice Lead, you will align regional execution with European practice standards while expanding capability, market reach, and impact. What You Will Do Within this varied role, your responsibilities will include: Strategy & Practice Leadership Set and execute the UK & Ireland geospatial strategy in line with European and Global practice goals, with connected data embedded in core project delivery. Supports the Practice Leader to develop Practice strategies, the annual budget and the delivery of strategic actions to grow the Practice’s market position and capability. Lead and continue to grow a high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary team (GIS, data engineering/ETL, 3D visualisation, geospatial analytics, CAD & surveying fostering an environment for digital development). Create a supportive learning culture with structured mentoring, knowledge dissemination, and clear career pathways. Plan resources and succession to meet programme milestones, evolving skills demands, and growth objectives. Supports or leads recruitment, ensuring timely onboarding with clarity on systems, processes and standards. Establish and govern standards (metadata, naming, provenance, QA/QC) aligned to INSPIRE, ISO 191xx, and ISO 19650/BS 1192‑aligned information management practices. Supports the integration and performance of acquired entities as required. Regional Financial Performance Own the financial performance and P&L account for the UK & Ireland Geospatial & Data Solutions team, including budgeting, cost management, and revenue delivery aligned to business targets. Maintain clear visibility of the project and services pipeline, working with sector leads, project directors, and the European Geospatial Practice Lead to understand forward demand and market shifts. Lead proactive forecasting and commercial planning, ensuring accurate predictions of workload, revenue, utilisation, and margin to drive smart, data‑informed decisions. Support strategic resourcing and recruitment, using pipeline intelligence and financial performance indicators to justify hiring, upskilling, and capacity planning. Monitor operational performance, tracking KPIs such as utilisation, profitability, bid success rates, and cost efficiency, and taking corrective action where required. Ensure compliance with corporate governance, including financial reporting, risk management, and audit requirements. Business Development, Growth & Commercials Grow geospatial revenue across UK & Ireland, securing work both within multidisciplinary portfolios and through standalone geospatial offerings, tools, and data products. Build and maintain strategic client relationships, identifying market opportunities, shaping long‑term programmes and frameworks, and positioning the Geospatial & Data Solutions team as trusted advisors. Provides active leadership of important projects, from prospect identification through to delivery, including direct technical contributions to maintain personal chargeability expectations as agreed with the Practice Leader. Drive pipeline development and commercial performance, monitoring market trends, bid success rates, and commercial KPIs to support sustainable growth. Governance, Risk & Quality Ensures consistent application of SLR standards, processes and systems across the sub‑team. Contributes to strong proposal development. Reviews proposals and scopes of work for risks, commercial viability and deliverability. Participates in approvals per the Risk Approvals. Drives standardisation and simplification of delivery processes and leads or contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and root‑cause actions on recurring issues. Acts as an alternative escalation point to the PD for project issues, risks and governance queries within the sub‑team Project & Programme Delivery (NSIPs & Clean Energy) Oversee geospatial delivery across major onshore/offshore programmes, including DCO/consenting, routing/site selection, EIA, land referencing, design coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Ensure reliable, secure, and connected data flows across CDEs and project ecosystems (GIS–BIM–doc management–analytics), enabling timely insights and compliant submissions. Act as senior geospatial advisor to clients and project directors; unblock issues, assure quality, and drive value. About You We'd envisage that you would be able to bring/demonstrate: · Demonstrated experience in geospatial leadership in the environmental/engineering consultancy domain, with a proven track record leading GIS for major infrastructure and NSIPs. · Demonstrated success delivering geospatial strategy and digital transition (team growth, new services, productisation). · Experience acting as a senior geospatial advisor to clients and project directors, providing authoritative guidance and resolving delivery challenges. · Leadership of multi-disciplinary teams (GIS, ETL/data engineering, analytics, 3D, development/data science) and cross-functional delivery with engineering and environmental disciplines. · Strong commercial awareness with proven track record of growing geospatial revenue, shaping proposals, and building strategic client relationships. · Client-facing leadership: shaping programmes, winning bids, negotiating scope/commercials, and driving measurable outcomes. · Proven capability managing financial performance, including budgeting, revenue delivery, cost control, forecasting, and operational KPI monitoring. Technical Skills · Advanced expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise/Online/Pro (and/or QGIS), spatial databases (PostGIS/SQL Server), and ETL (e.g., FME). · Proficiency establishing and governing geospatial standards—metadata, naming conventions, data provenance, QA/QC, lineage, and version control. · Experience with web GIS, APIs, dashboards (e.g., Power BI), and 3D/immersive visualisation. · Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), CI/CD principles, and secure data architectures. · Integration across CDEs and digital engineering ecosystems (e.g., ProjectWise, SharePoint/Teams, BIM 360/ACC). · Strong capability in forecasting, resource planning, and analysing financial and operational metrics (utilisation, margin, profitability, efficiency, bid success rates). Qualifications · Degree in GIS/Geography/Geomatics, Environmental/Data Science, Engineering or related discipline (postgraduate desirable). · Professional accreditation (e.g., CGeog(GIS), GISP-AP, or equivalent) desirable.
