Job Description:
This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and collaborating with colleagues to ensure all children access the curriculum within a mainstream setting. Based in a reputable school in the Dudley area, the SENCO will be responsible for developing the school's approach to SEN, leading the SEN department, and supporting teachers in working with students with SEN. The role involves working closely with teaching staff at all levels, including the headteacher and senior leadership team. This is a full-time, permanent position.
Person Specification:
* A teaching qualification with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* National Award in SEN Coordination or a commitment to gain full accreditation within three years.
* Proven experience liaising effectively with outside agencies.
* Knowledge of the National Curriculum for Key Stage 3 and 4.
* Understanding of SEN legislation, inclusion, and pastoral care best practices.
* Experience managing SEN provision effectively.
* Knowledge of intervention strategies and support options.
* Understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
* Ability to use performance data for planning and provision mapping.
* Experience producing and updating CAF forms, EHC plans, and other statutory documents.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with a range of stakeholders including senior leadership, staff, parents, and pupils.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, manage time effectively, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
