Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive. Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. Want to come and be a part of it? This is a hybrid role with 2 days a week in our HQ located in Cobalt Business Park. What will you be doing? As our Senior Bid Writer, you’ll take the lead on strategic bids that help us win the work that powers essential infrastructure across the UK. This isn’t just a writing role — it’s a chance to shape solutions, bring clarity to complex ideas and influence key decisions at a high level. You’ll set the standard for written quality, guide our bid writers through mentoring and coaching, and work closely with teams across metering, EV, gas, renewables, transmission and distribution. If you love bringing people together, turning ideas into confident narratives and helping teams deliver their best work, this is the role for you. Your tasks will include: Team Management • Lead and support a team of bid writers, allocating resources across a range of tenders. • Coach, mentor and build capability — creating a learning culture that strives for excellence. • Embed best-practice bid writing standards and drive continuous improvement. Bid Leadership • Own bid responses end‑to‑end, shaping solutions and crafting high‑scoring content. • Facilitate planning/storyboarding workshops and steer bid strategy. • Ask the right questions to strengthen clarity, compliance and value. Content Development & Collaboration • Produce clear, visually engaging, client‑focused responses. • Translate technical concepts into accessible, compelling narratives. • Work with engineers, operations and senior leaders to align solutions to client priorities, ESG and social value. • Capture lessons learned and enhance bid tools, templates and knowledge resources. • Support post‑tender presentations and clarification activities. What you’ll bring • 5 years delivering major tenders/frameworks in a fast‑paced environment • Experience mentoring and supporting others • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder‑influencing skills • Exceptional writing ability — able to simplify complexity and structure compelling content • Advanced MS Word and strong MS Office skills; InDesign desirable • APMP Foundation/Practitioner preferred • Ability to travel when required Not sure you meet every single requirement? We’d still love to hear from you. Your experience might be exactly what we need — even if your path has been a little different. What’s in it for you? We offer a range of benefits designed to support your life in and out of work, some of which include; • Matched or contributory pension scheme • Online GP service, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year • Employee assistance programme • My Rewards portal, access to 1000’s of retail discounts • Life assurance • Cycle to work, salary finance and give as you earn schemes • Enhanced maternity, paternity leave and adoption leave • Reward and recognition scheme In addition, this role offers; • 25 days plus bank holiday About us We want to be an employer of choice and a great place to work, attracting diverse and talented people, who join us and make a difference.
