About
Velora is a UK-based digital health venture building a governance-first clinic operating system and verified booking infrastructure for a specialised, fast-growing healthcare segment. We are building a high-trust workflow platform designed for real-world clinical operations.
The role
We’re looking for a genuinely hands-on Chief Technology Officer to own end-to-end delivery from first commit through pilot clinics and launch, and to establish strong engineering foundations from day one.
This is a builder-first CTO role: intensive hands-on coding in Phase 1, with long-term leadership of the engineering function as the company scales. You will own architecture, technical execution, engineering quality, and early team leadership end-to-end.
Responsibilities
* Own MVP delivery end-to-end: architecture, implementation, deployment, iteration
* Build a workflow-heavy B2B SaaS product with production-grade integrity (security, permissions, data correctness, reliability)
* Set engineering standards early: repo hygiene, CI/CD, testing, observability, controlled releases
* Partner tightly with the founder on scope, prioritisation, technical trade-offs, and delivery planning
* Lead a small engineering team from day one, including directing and mentoring 1–2 engineers while remaining deeply hands-on
* Over time, shape the early engineering hiring plan, maintain technical quality, and scale the engineering function with discipline
You are a strong fit if you
* Have recently (last 2–3 years) personally built, shipped, and operated a modern web-based multi-tenant B2B SaaS product in production
* Can design and implement secure tenancy boundaries, RBAC/permissions, and audit and event logging in real systems
* Are security-minded by default: threat-model instincts, secure defaults, minimal attack surface, clean boundaries
* Have experience in a high-trust domain (healthtech, fintech, identity/security, payments) and build with privacy-by-design thinking (UK GDPR-aware)
* Can ship with high velocity while keeping scope tight and quality high, and can clearly explain what you would cut to hit a pilot milestone
* Can share 1–2 concrete examples of end-to-end shipped work you personally owned (links or a short walkthrough)
Technical baseline
* Strong full-stack capability (TypeScript/Node and/or Python; React/Next.js or equivalent)
* Strong AWS delivery track record (deployment, CI/CD, observability, security hygiene)
* Practical experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture, RBAC, audit/event logging, and integrations
Nice-to-have
* Experience with payments (Stripe), identity verification, messaging/comms logging, or healthcare workflow products
* Experience running controlled pilots with real customers and tight feedback loops
* Evidence of high-quality engineering leadership: code review culture, architecture governance, reliability mindset
Structure
* Compensation will commence only upon funding close and formal start of employment. Salary and equity details will be shared with shortlisted candidates.
* This is an early employee hire, not a co-founder appointment.
Who this is NOT for
* If you want a non-hands-on, fractional, or primarily advisory CTO role
* If you prefer low-accountability work without milestones and documentation
How to apply
Please send:
* CV or LinkedIn profile
* 2–3 examples of products you built hands-on (links/screenshots OK)
* Your preferred stack and why
