Job Title: Protection & Control Engineer Location: Stirling, Scotland Contract Type: Permanent / Full-Time Framework: Major Transmission & Distribution Framework (Scotland) Overview: A well-established infrastructure contractor is seeking a skilled Protection & Control Engineer to support delivery of critical transmission and distribution works across Scotland. Based in Stirling, the role will involve detailed design, commissioning, and technical coordination for high-voltage substation projects as part of a long-term framework agreement with a major UK electricity network operator. Key Responsibilities: Develop and review Protection & Control (P&C) schemes for high-voltage substations (11kV to 400kV). Perform protection studies, relay configuration, and settings coordination. Support the full project lifecycle, from design through to on-site commissioning and final energisation. Interface with in-house design teams, client engineers, and third-party contractors to ensure technical compliance and quality. Produce and check drawings such as single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and control logic diagrams. Contribute to testing procedures and commissioning activities, ensuring safe and reliable operation of assets. Adhere to all relevant industry standards and client-specific specifications. Participate in project reviews, hazard identification processes, and quality control measures. Required Experience: Strong background in Protection & Control engineering within the UK power transmission or distribution sector. Experience working under framework agreements or large-scale grid infrastructure programmes. Proficiency with protection relays (e.g. Siemens, GE, ABB) and secondary systems. Solid understanding of UK regulatory requirements and technical standards. Ability to interpret and produce detailed technical documentation and protection settings. Experience with commissioning protocols and field testing is advantageous. Qualifications: Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline. ECS/CSCS certification (desirable).
