At Fletchers Solicitors, we are seeking a Head of Technical Projects to drive the successful technical delivery of high-profile M&A integrations and key technology initiatives. This hands-on senior position demands deep expertise in infrastructure and Microsoft Azure, coupled with a solid understanding of development practices. You will take ownership of end-to-end solution delivery, shaping technical execution while coordinating cross-functional virtual teams of developers, infrastructure specialists, and support engineers. Although this role carries the title of “Head of,” it is not a traditional line management position. Instead, you will provide technical leadership without boundaries, forming and guiding collaborative delivery teams to achieve outcomes. Working in close partnership with business Project Managers and Business Analysts, you will ensure technology change is executed seamlessly, reliably, and with measurable business impact. Own the technical delivery plan: define tasks, allocate resources, track progress, and manage risks/issues for technical streams. Provide hands-on technical expertise and input as needed across infrastructure, Azure cloud, and development, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and business-aligned. Solution design: lead the HLD/LLD and non-functional requirements; obtain infra/security design approval from the Head of Infrastructure & Security. M&A due diligence: assess target environments (infrastructure, Azure, security posture, data flows), identify remediation items, and plan secure integration/migration paths. Build and lead virtual technical teams drawn from across IT and business functions, motivating and directing colleagues without direct line management responsibility. Collaborate with Project Managers (overall governance) and Business Analysts (requirements capture) to deliver joined-up outcomes. Act as the primary escalation point for technical delivery issues within projects. Manage technical dependencies and ensure effective integration with business operations during M&A activities. Partner with the Technical & Operations Director on scope/priorities and provide concise, risk-based status and RAID reporting. Ensure strong governance and documentation for technical designs, decisions, and delivery. Drive continuous improvement in technical project delivery, embedding lessons learned into future initiatives Essential Skills And Experience Technical Expertise (Essential): Proven background in infrastructure and IT operations. Strong Microsoft Azure skills (IaaS, PaaS, identity, and hybrid environments). Understanding of application development practices. Experience with data migration and systems consolidation. Awareness of cybersecurity principles and compliance standards. Project & Delivery Skills (Essential) Demonstrable success delivering technical projects, including M&A integrations. Ability to plan and manage technical workstreams, aligning with wider project governance. Skilled in leading virtual/matrix teams and coordinating vendors. Strong stakeholder management, influencing at all levels of the organisation. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills. PRINCE2 or similar Project certification Desirable Skills And Experience Experience in the legal sector or other regulated industries. Knowledge of Proclaim or equivalent case management systems. Familiarity with ISO 27001 / Cyber Essentials Plus frameworks. Technical Certification such as Azure Solutions Architect, ITIL, TOGAF.
