Project Manager – Bespoke Timber Structures

I’m recruiting for a leading, employee-owned timber construction specialist seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver high-end, architecturally led timber structures across the UK.
This is a fantastic opportunity to manage unique, design-led projects from concept to installation within a highly collaborative, craft-driven environment.
The Role
You will oversee the full lifecycle of multiple bespoke timber projects — managing design coordination, client communications, programme delivery, budgets, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and on-site installation. Working closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and in-house design/manufacturing teams, you’ll ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to exceptional quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead projects from handover through design, fabrication, installation, and completion
2. Act as main client contact, chair meetings, and provide regular updates
3. Coordinate all design stages and resolve technical challenges early
4. Produce and manage project programmes, plans, and critical paths
5. Track budgets, identify variations, and support commercial decision-making
6. Oversee procurement, logistics planning, and national installation schedules
7. Attend site visits and ensure safe, high-quality installation
8. Identify risks and coordinate surveys and compliance
9. Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and handovers
10. Support continuous improvement and internal reporting processes
Skills & Experience
11. 5+ years’ project management experience in construction, timber, engineered products, or manufacturing
12. Strong technical understanding of materials, fabrication, and installation
13. Confident interpreting architectural/engineering drawings
14. Excellent communication, organisation, and client-facing skills
15. Commercial awareness with strong budget management
16. Proficient with project management tools, Excel, Google Workspace, and CRMs
17. AutoCAD/SketchUp knowledge desirable
18. Full UK driving licence
19. Proactive, solution-focused, calm under pressure
20. Collaborative team player with strong problem-solving skills
21. Passionate about architecture, craftsmanship, and quality
Office based in South Devon. Travel to sites UK-wide when required.
