Job Title: Environmental Specialist
To assist the Group Head of Environment in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System across all Group companies. This includes ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, supporting audits and inspections, identifying opportunities for continual improvement, and promoting environmental best practices. Additionally, to provide dedicated environmental support to Toolstation, helping the business meet its sustainability goals and integrate environmental considerations into day-to-day operations.
Principal Accountabilities
* Support the Group Head of Environment with the implementation of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS). Maintain operating procedures and develop guidance to support the business.
* Drive the internal environmental audit programme across Distribution Centres and Branches, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, particularly waste, water management, and other ESG topics.
* Provide subject matter expertise by partnering with Business Unit teams, supporting and upskilling colleagues on environmental aspects.
* Support environmental incident reporting, investigation, and trend analysis for internal and external reporting, highlighting opportunities for improvement.
* Lead on environmental data reporting.
* Provide environmental support for bids, tenders, and respond to customer requests.
* Support the production and delivery of training events (online and face-to-face) for colleagues across the business.
What you’ll need to have/be:
* Professional qualification in a relevant field (degree level).
* Practical experience managing and implementing ISO 14001 EMS in a multi-site business.
* At least 3 years of related experience.
* Experience working with environmental regulators.
* Proven ability to develop and deliver projects across multiple businesses and functions.
* Strong customer service skills and stakeholder management.
* Business engagement skills.
* Ability to multitask effectively.
* Data analysis and trend identification skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both internal and external, with the ability to promote change.
* Leadership and influencing skills.
* Working knowledge of UK Environmental legislation.
