The Role: Freelance Markets Development role
We are seeking a freelance person to develop our markets and oversee them during our Winter Festival event, happening in Devizes Town Centre, on the 28th and 29th of November. We are looking for an experienced market manager who will be confident working with both indoor and outdoor traders. You will have a strong, demonstrable knowledge of health and safety requirements and will confidently enforce them in an event situation. You will need to be resourceful and firm to manage our outdoor markets, and have a more creative approach to looking after our indoor makers. You will know how to attract high-quality traders to increase and improve our festive offer, making it an appealing go-to event in its own right.
Key Responsibilities
* Actively promote and develop our markets, bringing new high-quality traders to our Winter Festival event.
* Contribute to the planning and preparation of our event alongside our team.
* Work with our team to support and improve our promotion of our traders and markets as a key element of our overall event.
* Ensure our database of traders is up to date and ready for use for our next event, and our future events are in our traders' minds.
* Ensure accurate and timely gathering of all necessary paperwork using our established online systems.
* Be a proactive team member supporting all aspects of our event delivery.
* Maintain appropriate records and support evaluation to inform future events.
* Ensure our sustainability goals are adhered to throughout our markets.
* Be on site for the duration of our Markets ensuring they run smoothly.
* Act as an ambassador for DOCA and support its mission and values.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Organised, reliable and able to manage documentation and communications efficiently.
* Able to hit the ground running with our online systems, using our Google Drive docs to manage all related admin.
* A commitment to good data management
* Understanding of Health and Safety legislation
* A collaborative approach and commitment to inclusive practice.
* A commitment to quality and sustainability
* A great communicator at all levels.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of, or enthusiasm for, the arts and cultural sector.
* Experience in managing markets, both indoor and outdoor.
* Access to and knowledge of how to attract new high-quality traders
* A first aid certificate
* Full driving license
* Experience of working on large outdoor events

Contract information
You will be required to be on site for our main event, with a day either side for set up and clearing up. 27th, 28th and 29th of November
Freelance: The contract will be offered on a freelance basis; you will be responsible for the payment of your own taxes and will be paid on submission of an invoice. The contract is for 15 days in total. You will agree on your flexible working hours with our team and trustees.
Location: This is a hybrid role; you will be in Devizes, Wiltshire, when required, combined with remote working
