Cyber Security Officer - 6‑Month Contract
Glasgow (1-2 days per month on site)
£500-£550 per day - Inside IR35
We are supporting one of our key public sector partners in the recruitment of an experienced Cyber Security Officer for a 6‑month engagement. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the organisation's cyber resilience, advising on security strategy, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and legislation within a fast‑paced environment.
Main Responsibilities
1. Lead security risk assessments, penetration testing activity and business impact analysis
2. Develop, maintain, and monitor Information Security policies, procedures, and guidelines
3. Deliver and evaluate organisation‑wide security awareness and training campaigns
4. Provide expert security advice to ensure alignment with information assurance frameworks
5. Support incident response and coordinate investigation activities
6. Oversee third‑party and supplier security assurance
7. Guide security requirements for projects, procurement and change initiatives
8. Maintain and strengthen the Information Security Management System (ISMS)
9. Mentor and support junior security team members
Essential Skills & Experience
10. Strong knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST CSF, NCSC CAF and information assurance best practice
11. Proven experience conducting and managing information security risk assessments
12. Solid understanding of GDPR and DPA 2018 with the ability to embed compliance
13. Demonstrable experience providing security leadership and advisory support
14. Ability to interpret standards, policies and risk findings into actionable security controls
15. Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences
16. Experience thriving in dynamic, fast‑moving environments
