About the Role
Amber Labs is seeking a talented AI Engineer to join our growing team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge AI solutions for high-impact UK Central Government projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative large language model (LLM) applications in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions with a focus on LLM-based applications
* Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and AI services using Python and AWS
* Fine-tune, evaluate, and optimise large language models for real-world use cases
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders
* Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and governance standards required for government projects
* Contribute to best practices, code quality, and documentation
Required Skills & Experience
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in AI/ML engineering, with hands-on experience in LLMs
* Strong programming skills in Python
* Proven experience working with AWS (e.g. S3, Lambda, SageMaker, ECS)
* Experience delivering solutions for UK Central Government projects
* Active SC (Security Check) Clearance (must be current and transferable)
* Solid understanding of machine learning lifecycle, model deployment, and MLOps practices
Desirable Skills
* Experience with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face
* Familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and vector databases
* Knowledge of data governance and security standards within government environments
* Experience working in agile delivery teams
