Your role
As an IT Infrastructure Engineer you will work closely with the full IT team, including Development and BI. Your responsibilities include maintaining existing systems, implementing new solutions to meet business requirements, ensuring the reliability, security and efficiency of networks, servers and storage systems, and troubleshooting complex issues. You will optimize performance, enforce best practices and enhance scalability to support the smooth functioning of our IT environment.
Engage with stakeholders—departmental heads and end‑users—to understand needs and translate them into actionable technical solutions. Your overarching goals are the seamless operation of systems, minimisation of downtime, and maximisation of IT infrastructure performance. You will provide proactive monitoring, identify bottlenecks, and implement preventative measures to increase organisational efficiency and adaptability.
Your Duties & Responsibilities
* Plan, install and configure hardware, operating systems and applications.
* Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot IT systems including desktop computing, telephony, servers, storage and networking.
* Manage escalation to external support providers as required.
* Establish good working relationships with customers, suppliers and other professionals.
* Identify, test and evaluate new technology to address business needs.
* Lead technology‑based project work and infrastructure design.
* Provide in‑house IT training.
* Participate in out‑of‑hours troubleshooting and maintenance work as required.
* Willingness to participate in an on‑call rota for high‑priority incidents.
* Undertake disaster recovery planning and oversee backup and restoration of systems.
* Interpret IT‑relevant regulatory frameworks such as information governance, GDPR and Cyber Essentials.
Benefits
* Annual salary: £45,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience)
* On‑call allowance
* Annual leave of 25 days plus bank holidays (increasing to 27 days after 3 years of service)
* Annual company bonus scheme (subject to eligibility)
* Pension – auto‑enrolment after 3 months at 5% with an employer contribution of 4%; optional increase to 6% with employer contribution of 8%
* Life assurance 10× salary with a maximum of £300,000
