Overview
Priory Hospital Ayr Clinic is looking to recruit a Charge Nurse to join the team. This is a full time 37.5 hours role with a day shift and night rotational shift pattern. Based in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland, Priory Hospital Ayr Clinic is a low secure service for males and females with a mental health diagnosis and/or a personality disorder. Lochlea House and Gatehouse are two stepdown services located in Ayrshire which are part of Ayr Clinic also.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
The role of the Charge Nurse is to provide senior nursing leadership to the ward nursing team in support of the Ward Manager. They will have clinical experience and leadership that provides expertise and confidence to the nursing team and ward overall. They will have defined delegated responsibilities from the Ward Manager; having protected time for their management duties and have supervisory responsibilities for an agreed group of staff.
* You will be responsible for providing leadership support and training to the ward based nursing teams. This will include clinical supervision and induction of new staff.
* In addition, you will be included in an on-call rota, expected to cover late notice of shift cancellations, plus provide support to any areas as a result of rising acuity.
* You will ensure that a high standard of patient care is provided, and they comply with all quality standards and statutory requirements. You will be required to carry out regular audits and conduct quality walk rounds.

The ideal candidate will be a trained assessor/supervisor with essential experience in clinical supervision (training desirable). You will demonstrate a strong commitment to continued professional development, with evidence of maintaining and further developing both your clinical expertise and leadership skills. Good computer skills are also required to support the role effectively.
