This is an excellent opportunity to kick-start your careers in a supportive environment under the guidance of experienced directors, technical managers, engineers and technicians. As you progress and gain experience you can expect to be active on a number of projects and with a number of clients at any given time.\n\nThe Modern Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering will run over a three year period during which time you will undertake a supervised programme of training and college day release which can lead to Technician Member Technician (EngTech) Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineer (ICE).\n\nROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\nAs an apprentice Civil technician you will be working in a team of engineers and technicians supporting the delivery of engineering design work associated with the construction of permanent roads, energy and commercial projects. Duties may include:\n\nattend off-site training programme leading to a recognised qualification\nassisting a team of engineers and technicians with the production of engineering drawings, documentation, risk assessments etc.\nproduction of 2D/3D drawings using computer software\npreparation and checking of H&S risk assessments, documentation etc\ninitial checking of own work\ncontributing to providing solutions to design problems\nmeeting agreed deadlines\nattend and participate in company activities, presentations and workshops\nkeeping your training log up to date and attending training/Continuous Professional Development where appropriate\nsupporting the administration of projects / the team.\nYou will be assigned a mentor within your team who you will work and liaise closely with you in your day-to-day work You will learn to support the delivery of engineering design work associated with the construction of permanent roads, energy and commercial projects. \nProducing engineering drawings, documentation and risk assessments as well as 2D/3D drawings. QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE\nYou should be studying towards or have achieved:\n\nOne pass at National 5 level English.\nOne pass at National 5 level Mathematics.\nOne pass at Higher Level C or above in Mathematics or Physics and a pass at National 5 Mathematics would also be beneficial but not essential\nOne pass at National 5 level Craft Design for Manufacture, Design for Manufacture, Graphic Design, Art or similar would also be beneficial but not essential\nTo be an apprentice civil engineering technician you should have:\ndesire to work in an engineering office environment\nwillingness to achieve professional qualification e.g. EngTech MICE\ngood numerical/mathematics skills\ngood literacy\ngood computing skills\nability to manage your own time and prioritise at busy times\nadaptability\nan interest in using computers for design work, calculations, and testing designs\nability to produce neat and accurate technical drawings\nability to think in a methodical way to design, plan and organise projects\na temperament that means you work well with other people\nexcellent communication skills within a team and externally\nability to present and explain the thought processes behind your own design work.\nYou should be able to demonstrate that you are:\n\nenthusiastic\nwilling to learn\npunctual\nreliable\ncommitted\nself-motivated\nwell presented.
