Pay Grade: Specialist 6
The Commission Program Compliance Specialist supports the School Director of Commission Programs to ensure compliance with all program regulations as defined by the Criminal Justice Training Standards Commission, the NC Sherriff's Education and Training Standards Commission, and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The position also ensures adherence to internal Wake Tech and North Carolina Community College System policies and procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Works with leaders in the Public Safety division to identify and mitigate potential risk by preparing audit reports
*Regularly corresponds and interfaces with external agencies including accreditation bodies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
*Creates reports for division leaders and external agencies identifying trends and making recommendations for program improvements
*Manages and monitors complex workflows to ensure timely and accurate processing and efficiency
*Provides technical assistance and support to the School Director of Commission Programs and sta? to include support with purchase orders, e- procurement, and travel authorizations and reimbursements
*Enters, veri?es, and updates students’ information in the Colleague student system and registers students for courses and classes.
*Veri?es and manages student data including but not limited to hours and total class hours, end of semester grades, discount codes, membership requirements specified in the College’s Accountability and Credibility Plan, and background checks
*Provides technical assistance to instructors and the Director to facilitate accurate record keeping including reviewing and verifying all class paperwork, such as registration forms, enrollment reports, memos, and instructors’ contracts, for each course section and submits end of class paperwork in accordance with Continuing Education Registrar’s deadlines
*Schedules and administers required reading exams for commission courses
Manages the records room by overseeing the lifecycle of physical and digital records, ensuring they are organized, accessible, and compliant with regulations
Supports the annual review of ?les and college visits from multiple accreditation bodies
Prepares instructor contracts, contract amendments and changes, and monthly payroll for departments within the division
Reviews, creates, and updates course copy process from courses listed NC Community College System Combine Course library and builds course selections in the college’s student information system
Other duties as required by code
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excel skills including proficiency in pivot tables, advanced formula functions (like VLOOKUP, INDEX MATCH, IFS), data validation, conditional formatting, etc
Proven attention to detail
Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others
Proven ability to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrates good organizational skills
Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision Excellent written and verbal communication skills Exceptional customer relations skills
Strong analytical skills
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
Three years of applicable experience with record keeping, auditing, or compliance
OR
Associates’ Degree
Five years of applicable experience with record keeping, auditing, or compliance
Current General Instructor certification as issued by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission or the ability to obtain this certification within 6 months of hire date.
Preferences:
Experience in a related compliance role within higher education, law enforcement, or another highly regulated industry
