Your main focus will be developing and progressing the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting role that will make a real difference!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a pivotal role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and driving the project to successful completion. Your expertise will be highly valuable in ensuring the successful implementation of these reforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and collate input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements.
* Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
* Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, ensuring it meets business needs.
* Provide technical insight into Defra policy discussions to ensure the regulatory requirements are incorporated into the Waste Tracking Service.
* Engage with devolved nations regarding Waste Tracking Service requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
* Provide leadership on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical aspects and links to waste tracking.
* Support wider regulatory reform related to the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
* Contribute to the wider Hazardous Waste team and support its objectives.
The Team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing group within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste handling. We promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture that values everyone. We leverage evidence, expertise, engagement, and innovation to influence policy, legislation, and resource allocation.
