Job summary
This is a substantive post for which 10 PA's are available. The post would provide consultant psychiatric input to the team for the 10 PAs (6 PAs GMAIC, 4 PAs Crisis service) across the week. Out of hours, consultant input comes from the medical on call rota. The post holder will join a dynamic and supportive Directorate and CAMHS Consultant peer group. This is a new post, and the successful candidate will develop the role with the acute care team and liaise with the community CAMHS and inpatient services collaboratively.

Role Summary:
The consultant psychiatrist will provide medical oversight and clinical consultation to the Crisis team and GMAIC for assessment, management and treatment of the young people who present with mental health disorders. They will participate in face-to-face assessments for complex, uncertain and high-risk presentations, including young people requiring assessment under the Mental Health Act, and will inform clinical judgments on admission to inpatient services. Where admission is not clinically required, they will provide guidance and alternative recommendations including the use of crisis services and follow-up. They will provide supervision to NMP within Crisis and GMAIC services. The role involves strengthening relationships with community CAMHS and inpatients across Pennine and CAMHS services in Greater Manchester. The role will also involve joint work with adult mental health services for transition of young people reaching 18 and ongoing care. They will liaise with inpatient services, attend escalation meetings and provide second opinions to neighboring GMAIC teams when required. Excellent communication and liaison with key professionals is essential to interface between community and inpatient services.
