Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Practitioner to join the Safeguarding Team in Sandwell, Adult Social Care. We are particularly looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who will help shape our safeguarding service. Supervision and the development of team members; including students, apprentices and newly qualified social workers is central to the values and expectations of an Advanced Practitioner.
Responsibilities
* The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of a high-quality adult safeguarding team and have an active role in undertaking, advising and consulting on complex safeguarding decisions.
* You will provide quality assurance in relation to all allocated safeguarding work, including the oversight of work undertaken by provider organisations and partner agencies.
* You will supervise staff, providers and other agencies to undertake tasks to safeguard the people of Sandwell. This carries with it considerable responsibility, and it will be necessary to make difficult and challenging decisions.
* As an Advanced Practitioner you will also be responsible for recording decisions in line with policy and expected to chair adult safeguarding meetings.
* You will be required to advise and give direction in accordance with the Pan West Midlands Adult Protection Policy and associated local procedures.
* You will work in an outcome focused manner which places the person at risk of abuse at the centre in line with Making Safeguarding Personal.
* You will use your professional experience and judgement in recommending actions to reduce risk and minimise the re-occurrence of any concerns.
* The post holder will have strong legal literacy in respect of the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The post holder will be expected to be able to deal with conflict and maintain a robust position against challenge as required.
* You will bring passion and commitment, achieving creative engagement with people with lived experience and their families and promoting effective safeguarding.

Qualifications
Social Work, Dip HE SW, CQSW orequivalent.
Additional Requirements
The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS with Children & Adults barring check.
