Serco has an exciting opportunity for a Vehicle Technician to join the team at RAF Molesworth.
As a Vehicle Technician, you will be responsible for the service and repair of Government Owned Vehicles (GOV) for our customer (USAF). The role is 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and you will be part of a team providing accident and breakdown cover on a 24/7 basis, including a call-out duty once every 4 weeks, paid at an overtime rate.

Main responsibilities include:
* Repair and maintain a fleet of 131 vehicles, 90% of which are U.S. Spec and left-hand drive.
* Range of vehicles include: HGV 6x4 Tractor, HGV Trailers, U.S. Spec Fire Trucks, U.S. Spec Police Cars, U.S. Spec 8 Pax Vans, various U.S. & U.K. Spec cars, and forklifts.
* Repair and maintain various equipment such as tail lifts and generators.
* Ensure all repairs comply with Air Force Instructions and Ministry of Transport Regulations.
* Maintain vehicles according to the Driver Vehicle Standards Agency.
* Perform maintenance inspections and repairs on all vehicles presented.
* Identify vehicle faults and carry out necessary repairs.
* Complete all required brake tests.
* Stay updated on industry best practices.
* Conduct test drives after repairs to verify roadworthiness.
* Ensure workshop equipment is maintained and safe to use.
* Operate tools and machinery following safety procedures.
* Keep the workshop clean and organized for safety.
* Manage spares and equipment inventory.
* Use diagnostic tools to evaluate mechanical issues.
* Report vehicle defects and damages to the supervisor.
* Demonstrate preventative maintenance and inspection procedures to drivers and management.
* Follow safety procedures during all tasks, including lifting and working at heights.
* Refuel, wash, and vacuum vehicles as needed.
* Perform driving duties as required, ensuring safe driving practices to maximize fuel efficiency and safety.
* Carry out any other duties assigned by the VM Supervisor or Site Manager.
Requirements:
* Full clean UK Driving License
* NVQ Level 3 Maintenance Qualification or equivalent
* Experience with diagnostics
* Ability to inspect and repair to MOT standards
* Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
Desirable skills:
* Mobile Air Conditioning Qualification
* Drivers CPC or Professional Competence
* Tyre changing and balancing skills
* HGV license
* Experience in roadside recovery and trailer operations (+E)
* Forklift license
* Knowledge of environmental and hazardous waste procedures in workshops
