Lead Sport Scientist – Heriot-Watt University
Grade 6, Salary £31,236 – £36,636.
Full Time Equivalent: 35 hours weekly, open-ended. Working pattern includes morning, evening and occasional weekend work.

Purpose of Role
To provide sport science services for Oriam user groups including Sports Union Clubs, Sports Scholarships Programme, Oriam Performance Programme, BSc Sport & Exercise Science, and key partner organisations such as the Scottish Football Association.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Responsible for the delivery of sport science services to the different sport scholarship programmes.
* Plan, deliver and review sport science services including gym-based S&C sessions, conditioning sessions, rehab sessions and recovery sessions.
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with athletes, coaches and medical staff to provide evidence-based support for the development of athletes, such as injury risk identification or rehab programmes.
* Recruit, manage and coordinate a team of Sport Scientists.
* Contract and deliver sport science services to external clients.
* Ensure delivery against health & safety protocols set out by Performance Sport Manager.
* Manage the software and equipment used for sport science programme.
* Coordinate placement programmes and support student research projects as appropriate.
* Coordinate CPD to support the development of sport science staff team.
Education, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Undergraduate degree level in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
* UKSCA or BASES Accredited (or ability to achieve this within 12 months).
* Experience of working with athletes within a similar performance environment for at least 3 years.
* Competent in the use of relevant IT packages.
* Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
* Demonstrable professional and proactive approach.
* Ability to develop relationships with a range of stakeholders.
* Ability to work quickly, flexibly and accurately in a dynamic, changing and pressured environment.
* Demonstrable provision of excellent customer service.
* Ability to manage people.
Desirable:
* Masters level in a relevant discipline.
* Experience working with GPS and heart rate technology, and management/reporting of data.
* Experience of developing new business / business retention.
