Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our team. The Senior will play a pivotal role in providing personalised support to residents, promoting independence, and ensuring their well-being and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervision and Leadership: Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to support staff, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities and are equipped to deliver high-quality care and support.
* Person-Centred Support: Work collaboratively with residents, their families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualised care plans that reflect the unique needs, preferences, and goals of each individual.
* Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans in collaboration with residents and other stakeholders, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all.
* Mentoring and Training: Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching, and training to support staff, identifying areas for development and delivering relevant training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
* On-call Support: Act as the primary point of contact for support staff during evenings, weekends, and holidays, providing guidance and assistance as needed to address any urgent issues or emergencies that may arise.
* Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of support provided, incidents, and any changes in service users' needs or conditions, in compliance with the organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
* Advocacy: Advocate on behalf of residents to ensure their voices are heard, their rights are respected, and their needs are met effectively within the organisation and the wider community.
* Collaboration and Networking: Build positive relationships with external agencies, healthcare professionals, and other community resources to facilitate access to additional support services and resources for service users as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
* Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within supported living or healthcare settings.
* Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with residents and colleagues.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
* Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
* Proficiency in basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and record keeping software.
