Your technical expertise and attention to detail will help keep our services running smoothly and our customers moving every day.Shift Pattern
1. 5 days over 7, Early and late shifts covering 0500-0030

What You’ll Do
7. Carry out thorough daily vehicle inspections to identify faults, defects, or safety issues
8. Respond to on-road breakdowns, diagnosing faults and completing minor repairs where possible
9. Support both planned and unplanned maintenance activities within the workshop
10. Ensure all work is completed in line with safety, legal, and Arriva engineering standards
11. Accurately complete service sheets, inspection reports, and maintenance records
12. Work collaboratively with fellow engineers, supervisors, operations teams and wider teams to keep services running and strive for continuous improvements
What We’re Looking For
13. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in PSV or HGV Engineering with time served experience.
14. Strong understanding of industry standards, safety procedures, and diagnostic techniques
15. Confidence working independently and following technical instructions
16. Good mechanical skills with experience using workshop tools and equipment
17. Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks
18. Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends

We are looking for Skilled Shift Engineer to organise and oversee the work of fitters within a depot environment, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
• Organise jobs within the workshop or depot according to priorities and staff/material availability
• Manage any external contractors working at the depot
• Ensure all Health & Safety policies are followed by staff and visitors
• Monitor stock levels of materials and components
• Liaise with other departments regarding workloads and deadlines
• Keep accurate records of work completed and maintain required documentation
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the workshop or depot
Qualifications & Skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience managing staff and handling Health & Safety matters
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation
• Highly motivated with strong leadership abilities
• Proven ability to take ownership and accountability
• Experience using computerised systems
