Payroll Specialist
Location: Northampton
Salary: £32,000 to £36,000 / hybrid, full-time, flexible working plus many attractive benefits
Our client is a growing top 40 accountancy practice that provides expert solutions for entrepreneurial businesses and private individuals.
They have several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand. To support this growth, they have created a new opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join their Northampton team. This is a permanent, full-time role with hybrid and flexible working options.
Job Requirements – Payroll Specialist:
* Ideally CIPP qualified with 3-5 years of UK payroll experience.
* Experience within an accountancy/bureau environment is highly desirable.
* Familiar with payroll systems such as Sage, Xero, etc.
* Strong IT skills and the ability to quickly learn new software.
* Highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Able to prioritise workload effectively and work flexibly.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
* A self-starter with resilience.
* Demonstrates a strong team spirit but can also work independently.
* A positive “can-do” attitude with a desire to learn and develop.
Job Responsibilities – Payroll Specialist:
* Provide payroll services to a portfolio of clients of varying size and complexity.
* Process payrolls on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis as required.
* Manage starters and leavers, calculate statutory payments, RTI submissions, pension deductions, etc.
* Set up and cease PAYE schemes with HMRC as needed.
* Act as the primary contact with HMRC for PAYE matters.
* Calculate auto-enrolment pension deductions and ensure compliance.
* Upload pension contributions and starters to relevant portals.
* Submit BACS files and HMRC RTI information, FPS, and EPS by deadlines.
* Prepare P45s, P60s, Starter Declarations, and other forms.
* Liaise directly with clients to ensure payroll data accuracy, answer queries, resolve issues, and provide support.
* Communicate effectively with clients, staff, Directors, and HMRC.
* Support clients in running payroll systems daily.
* Assist and support team members as needed.
