Manufacturing Technician Location: 10 Furness Business Park, Barrow in Furness, LA14 2PE Job Type: Contract (6 months initial, with potential extension based on performance) About the Role We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Technician to support production activities within a technical manufacturing environment. This role involves performing a range of technical duties across electronic, mechanical, or systems-based functions, ensuring high-quality standards and efficient production processes. Key Responsibilities Perform technical tasks across functional work groups and production projects Execute testing, measurements, and process control activities Apply appropriate test techniques and procedures for production and project work Interpret and work from job packets, routings, work orders, wire lists, quality documents, and bills of materials Maintain and support production tools and equipment Troubleshoot and diagnose product, process, or program defects and carry out repairs Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints Identify components and perform wire preparation, stripping, crimping, and harness assembly/repair Operate manual tools and support automated machine operations where required Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using manufacturing system principles Skills and Experience Experience in a manufacturing or production environment Hands-on experience in one or more areas: Electronics Mechanical assembly Systems or production testing Ability to read technical drawings and identify components Experience with wiring, harness assembly, and termination Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Familiarity with production workflows and quality standards Exposure / Work Environment Manufacturing or Technology Centres Production assembly and testing Technical investigation and troubleshooting Process-driven production environments Working Hours and Rates Standard Hours (ST): Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 15:45 Friday: 07:00 – 11:30 Overtime (OT): Paid at 1.5x (time and a half) for hours beyond standard working time (excluding Sundays) Double Time (DT): Sundays and Public Holidays paid at 2x Backshift: 15:45 – 00:45 20% uplift on standard rate Overtime paid at 1.5x
