Overview
The post holder will provide a high quality support service within the Endoscopy Department for admin teams (bookings/reception teams), across the Trust. The role requires good communication with patients and their relatives, the general public and a wide range of multi-professional staff, internal and external to the Trust. A versatile approach is essential and the ability to cope with a large number of different tasks simultaneously is a prerequisite. The Endoscopy Support Officer is responsible for ensuring the correct and timely input of patient information onto the Patient Administration System (PAS), observing the rules of real time data entry. All aspects of this role should be carried out in line with Trust Policies and Procedures on data collection and confidentiality. The Endoscopy Unit has five procedure rooms to carry out a wide range of endoscopy procedures. The Endoscopy Office and department is a very busy specialty which is responsible for the validation and management of patient waiting lists for Endoscopic procedures within HDFT, including patients waiting for inpatient procedures as well as outpatient procedures and surveillance, and also providing cover for reception / retrieval of patient medical records. The administrative office supports the work of the clinicians and nursing staff within the department, working closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and other departments.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the correct and timely input of patient information onto the Patient Administration System (PAS) in real time data entry, in line with Trust Policies and Procedures on data collection and confidentiality.
* Assist with validation and management of patient waiting lists for Endoscopic procedures (inpatient, outpatient and surveillance).
* Provide cover for reception and retrieval of patient medical records as required.
* Support the work of clinicians and nursing staff within the department and work closely with multidisciplinary teams and other Trust departments.
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, the general public and a wide range of staff across the Trust.
* Demonstrate a versatile approach and the ability to cope with multiple tasks simultaneously.
