The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Prosthesis Officer to join our Supply Perioperative Services. This role you will oversee the procurement, supply and reconciliation of prosthetic products including stents and joint implants, ensuring timely cost-effective purchasing and accurate stock control for our operating theatres.
You will work closely with clinical teams, suppliers and hospital departments to deliver a seamless supply service that supports patient safety, operational efficiency and compliance with health standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the purchasing and inventory of prosthetic products in line with hospital contracts and supplier agreements.
* Monitor stock levels, complete replenishment and stocktake, and reduce waste through effective inventory control.
* Maintain supplier relationships, resolve invoicing issues and ensure compliant product delivery.
* Stay updated with Commonwealth Government Prosthesis Schedule changes and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
* Provide timely reporting, usage data and audit‑ready documentation.
* Support product evaluations, trials and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Lead purchasing workflows and assist junior staff where required.
* Collaborate with theatre teams, suppliers and other hospital departments to align procurement with clinical needs.
* Processing prosthesis paperwork.
About You
You are a strong communicator with excellent organisational skills and a proactive hands‑on approach. You take pride in accuracy, accountability and teamwork and you are confident working in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
You will bring:
* Proven experience in purchasing, inventory management or supply chain operations.
* Experience with purchasing systems (SAP Pronto or similar) and strong computer skills (MS Office).
* Knowledge of health supply standards, infection control and sterile stock handling (AS4187 desirable).
* Experience in a healthcare, medical supply or theatre environment (highly regarded).
* Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
