This Alternative Education College is seeking two dedicated Teaching Assistants—one based in Thatcham, the other in Newbury—to join our specialist team. These are temp-to-perm opportunities for the right candidates who are ready to make a lasting difference.
About the College
They support learners aged 5–19 who are unable to attend mainstream schools due to emotional, behavioural, or attendance challenges. With six sites across West Berkshire, they offer tailored education that helps students re-engage, rebuild confidence, and achieve their potential.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Supporting students with SEMH and additional needs in small group or 1:1 settings
* Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, classroom management, and resource preparation
* Building trusting relationships that foster emotional wellbeing and academic progress
* Helping students develop social skills, resilience, and a sense of belonging
* Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
What We’re Looking For
* Experience working with children or young people, especially those with SEMH needs
* A calm, empathetic approach and strong communication skills
* Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a team
